The National Association of Remodelers, Inc. (NARI), Minnesota Chapter has announced the winners of the 2014 Contractor Of The Year (COTY) Awards. The COTY Awards showcase the best projects of the area’s top talent in the remodeling industry. Contractors from seven regions around the country compete for these prestigious awards.
College City’s O’Conner Kitchen project was awarded Silver in the Residential Kitchen $60,001-$75,000 category.
NARI members represent an elite group of the approximately 800,000 companies and individuals in the U.S. identifying themselves as remodelers. An impartial panel of judges and experts, within the remodeling industry and associated fields, selected the winning projects/remodeler focusing on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation and degree of difficulty. Each entry included “before and after” photography and project descriptions.
The O’Conner Kitchen created a traditional, family and dog-friendly home that brings the outside in through a thoughtfully designed floor plan that lends itself to entertaining. Care was taken to ensure that the interior spaces relate to the tastes of both homeowners. The existing formal dining room and kitchen were incorporated into one expansive space. Craftsman-inspired Beech wood cabinetry was used throughout with custom furniture-style buffet and hutch, and a built-in dog dish area tucked out of site. Rift Sawn Quarter Oak floors, light walls and extensive lighting were used to make the space bright, light and visually expansive.
Other special features of the project included different colors of Cambria countertops on the island and perimeter — giving the island its own distinct feel. Travertine backsplash, bronze fixtures and cabinet hardware, and art-glass lighting make this kitchen remodel shine!
