This dated and uninspiring lower level was transformed into a warm, casual space where friends and family want to spend time together. The linear fireplace with stacked stone and built-ins and TV create the centerpiece for gathering. An adjacent bar with seating, game room with pool table and custom upholstered bench create additional areas for activity and conversation. Aesthetically, we chose materials that would complement the existing maple millwork and doors throughout the spaces. We tied this gold tone into the mustard leather sectional, the mosaic tile at the bar backsplash and the patterned window treatments. The majority of the finishes however focused on earthy, cool neutrals, making the palette current yet timeless. Engineered wood floors are wire brushed oak, the custom cabinets feature a taupe custom stain and glaze, and walls remain soft and neutral. The result is fresh, current and inviting. The bathroom was brightened by opening up the shower with a half wall and glass, unfitted furniture styled vanity and linen cabinets in a soft dove gray, and utilizing lightly colored materials throughout.
